Frequently asked questions
Can AlphaStone deliver e& (Etisalat) and du telecom projects?
Yes — AlphaStone works with registered e& (Etisalat) and du contractors in the UAE, delivering OSP, ISP/FTTH and infrastructure works to operator construction and quality standards.
What is the difference between OSP and ISP telecom works?
OSP (outside plant) covers external civil and cabling works — trenching, ducts, chambers, and external fiber/copper. ISP (inside plant) covers in-building works — risers, FTTH, splitters, ODFs and patching. We self-deliver both under one team.
Can you deliver FTTH for new buildings and communities?
Yes — full FTTH/FTTB/FTTC design and build, GPON, splicing, testing and service activation to e& and du guidelines for developments, towers and communities.
Do you handle civil works, permits and authority approvals?
Yes — we self-deliver trenching, ducting, chambers and reinstatement, and manage permits and coordination with the municipality, RTA, DEWA and other authorities.
Do you work as a telecom subcontractor for operators and integrators?
Yes — we regularly deliver as a subcontractor for operators and system integrators, alongside direct enterprise and developer projects.
Which emirates do you cover?
All seven emirates, from our head office at Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi, for fast mobilization across the UAE.
Do you provide telecom network maintenance and AMC?
Yes — preventive and corrective maintenance with SLAs and NOC support, plus AMC for power (gensets), HVAC and batteries, keeping your network live 24/7.
What is the difference between FTTH, FTTB and FTTC?
They describe how far the fibre runs. FTTH (fibre to the home) takes fibre all the way into each unit. FTTB (fibre to the building) ends in the building’s telecom room, with in-building cabling to each unit. FTTC (fibre to the curb/cabinet) ends at a street cabinet. New UAE developments are usually built for FTTH to the operator’s guidelines.
What does a telecom duct network include?
Typically ducts, joint boxes and manholes/chambers, draw ropes, warning tape and route markers, built to the operator’s or authority’s drawings, with as-built records at handover. See our telecom civil works.
How is fibre tested before handover?
Fibre links are normally tested end to end for insertion loss with a light source and power meter, and traced with an OTDR to locate splices, connectors and faults. The test results go into the handover pack.
How does telecom work connect to the building’s structured cabling?
The operator’s fibre lands in the building’s main telecom room. From there, the in-building structured cabling (fibre backbone plus Cat6/Cat6A horizontal cabling) carries the service to each floor and outlet. Planning both together avoids rework in risers and telecom rooms.
Who issues permits for telecom works in the road reserve?
It depends on the emirate. In Dubai, works in the right-of-way need RTA no-objection certificates through its e-NOC system, along with NOCs from any affected utilities such as DEWA, e& and du. In Abu Dhabi, the roads authority and the affected utilities issue the approvals. We confirm the exact list for each route at survey stage.
