What is a fisheye camera?
A fisheye camera uses an ultra-wide lens to capture a 360-degree (ceiling) or 180-degree (wall) view from a single unit. Software then dewarps the curved image into normal-looking views.
How big an area can one fisheye cover?
A single fisheye can cover a whole room or open area. The usable detail depends on ceiling height and how far away you need to identify people, which we assess in the survey.
What is dewarping?
Dewarping is software that flattens the curved fisheye image into normal, straight views – live and in playback – including several zoomed regions from the one camera.
Fisheye or several fixed cameras?
A fisheye reduces camera count and blind spots for open areas. For long distances or fine detail at range, fixed cameras are still better – most sites use a mix, which we plan for you.
Can I zoom into fisheye footage?
Yes. ePTZ lets you digitally pan and zoom into the recorded 360-degree image after the event, so you can revisit any part of the scene.
Are fisheye cameras SIRA compliant?
Yes. We design to SIRA (Dubai) and ADMCC (Abu Dhabi) standards and make sure the required detail and resolution are met at key points.
