How does CCTV night vision work?
Infrared cameras use invisible IR LEDs to light the scene and show a black-and-white image, while low-light and ColorVu cameras use large, sensitive sensors (and a little warm light) to keep the picture in colour at night.
What is ColorVu?
ColorVu is a camera type that records in full colour after dark using a large sensor and supplementary warm light, so you can see clothing and vehicle colours at night, not just grey shapes.
How far can night vision see?
Infrared range is commonly 20-80m depending on the model, and we match the range to each location during the free survey.
Colour night vision or infrared – which is better?
Colour helps identify clothing and vehicles; infrared gives longer range and works in total darkness. Many sites use a mix, which we plan for you.
Do night vision cameras work in complete darkness?
Infrared models do. ColorVu needs a little ambient or supplementary light, and hybrid cameras switch on a white light when they detect motion.
Are night vision cameras SIRA compliant?
Yes. We design to SIRA (Dubai) and ADMCC (Abu Dhabi) resolution and retention requirements.
