What does PTZ stand for?
PTZ means Pan-Tilt-Zoom. The camera can rotate left/right (pan), up/down (tilt) and zoom in optically, either controlled by an operator or automatically through presets and tracking.
How far can a PTZ camera zoom?
With 20x-40x optical zoom, PTZ cameras can identify people and vehicles well over 100m away – some laser PTZ models reach several hundred metres. We match the zoom to your longest viewing distance.
Can PTZ cameras track automatically?
Yes. AI auto-tracking models detect and follow a moving person or vehicle, and can run patrol tours between preset positions on a schedule.
Do I still need fixed cameras with a PTZ?
Usually yes. A PTZ only records where it is currently pointing, so we pair it with fixed cameras that continuously cover key areas – the PTZ then zooms in on incidents. We plan this balance in the survey.
Are PTZ cameras good for large sites?
Very. A single PTZ can replace several fixed cameras across car parks, ports, compounds and stadiums, giving live zoom control and wide coverage from one position.
Are PTZ cameras SIRA approved?
Yes. We configure PTZ systems to SIRA (Dubai) and ADMCC (Abu Dhabi) standards – including recording and retention – and manage approvals where required.
